Salman Khan’s much-awaited war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is reportedly gearing up for a major promotional moment, with its trailer scheduled to drop this Friday, November 6. According to an exclusive report by Variety India, the makers are planning a grand trailer launch event in Mumbai, although an official confirmation from the production house is still awaited.
The update comes after months of uncertainty surrounding the film’s completion and theatrical release. With Salman returning to a military-themed role, the trailer could offer the clearest look yet at the film’s storyline, scale and revised creative direction.
From Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi
The film was originally announced as Battle of Galwan in July 2025, with its story inspired by the June 15, 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley. Salman Khan plays an Indian Army officer inspired by Colonel Bikumalla Santosh, while Chitrangda Singh features alongside him in a prominent role.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced under Salman Khan Films, the project underwent a significant transformation when its title changed to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace in March 2026.
The new title places greater emphasis on the human cost of conflict and the possibility of peace. That shift makes the upcoming trailer particularly important, as audiences will get a better understanding of how the film balances its military backdrop with its emotional and dramatic elements.
Why the Trailer Matters for the Film’s Release
Maatrubhumi was originally scheduled to arrive in cinemas on April 17, 2026, but that date passed without a theatrical release. In October, Variety India reported that the film was still in post-production, with its final cut yet to be locked and background score work underway with composer Ravi Basrur.
The November 6 trailer report therefore marks a potentially significant step forward. However, the trailer launch itself does not confirm that the film is ready for theatrical release, and the makers have yet to officially announce a new release date.
The film also features Prashant Tamang, with writing credits shared by Shiv Aroor, Chintan Gandhi and Suresh Nair.
If the reported launch goes ahead, the trailer will need to do more than showcase large-scale war sequences. It will also have to introduce the film’s emotional core and explain its new identity to audiences who have followed the project since its original announcement.
For now, November 6 is the date to watch, with an official announcement and fresh details about the film’s theatrical plans still awaited.
