Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie are heading back to familiar territory. The longtime collaborators are teaming up once again for Dogfight, a new Netflix revenge action thriller set in London’s criminal underworld. The project marks their seventh film together and brings the actor-director partnership back to the gritty crime world that helped establish both of their careers.
Netflix announced the film on November 3, describing it as a “stylish revenge actioner.” Ritchie will write, direct and produce, while Statham will lead the cast and also serve as a producer. Production is scheduled to begin in the United Kingdom in early 2027.
A Return to the London Underworld
Plot details for Dogfight remain under wraps, and Netflix has not announced additional cast members or a release date. The film’s setting, however, suggests a return to the crime-driven storytelling that defined the duo’s earliest collaborations.
Ritchie and Statham first worked together on Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), which marked Statham’s feature-film debut and Ritchie’s breakthrough as a director. They followed it with Snatch (2000), another crime film that became a defining entry in their shared filmography.
Their later collaborations include Revolver (2005), Wrath of Man (2021) and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023). Their sixth film together, Viva La Madness, is also on the way, making Dogfight the seventh chapter in a partnership spanning nearly three decades.
Ritchie and Statham Bring Their Signature Style to Netflix
The film is being produced by Black Bear, Ritchie’s Toff Guy Films and Statham’s Punch Palace Productions. Ritchie and Statham will produce alongside Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg.
For Ritchie, Dogfight adds another feature to an increasingly busy slate and strengthens his relationship with Netflix. The filmmaker previously created The Gentlemen for the streamer, bringing his crime-comedy sensibility to a series built around London’s criminal networks.
Statham, meanwhile, remains one of the most recognisable names in action cinema, with a screen persona built around physical intensity, sharp-edged humour and tightly choreographed combat. Pairing him with Ritchie’s fast-moving crime storytelling gives Dogfight a familiar creative foundation, even as its specific characters and revenge plot remain undisclosed.
What to Expect From Dogfight
At this stage, the confirmed details are limited: Statham will star, Ritchie will write and direct, and the story will unfold within London’s criminal underworld. Netflix has not revealed whether the film will feature an ensemble cast, how the revenge story begins or when it will premiere.
Still, the reunion carries a clear appeal for fans of the pair’s earlier work. Dogfight gives them another opportunity to revisit the British crime territory where their collaboration began, this time with Netflix bringing the project to a global audience.
With filming expected to start in early 2027, more casting and story details may emerge closer to production. For now, the Statham-Ritchie reunion alone makes Dogfight one to watch for action and crime-film fans.
